Standard, Care, or Elite: choosing a storage tier at The Vault

Auto Vault Vehicle Storage

Every car at The Vault gets the same things before any tier is chosen. A secure, access-controlled indoor bay, monitored around the clock. Parked inside, out of the hail. Keys held in a safe on the premises, and the car moved only by Auto Vault staff. Every month the engine is run and the charge checked, and the car is repositioned to prevent flat spots on the tyres.

The tiers differ in what happens around that. This is how to choose between them.

Standard — R2,500 a month

Standard is an indoor secure bay and a monthly operational check. The car is available on weekdays between 08:30 and 16:00, and out of hours by arrangement.

It suits a car that is used. If you take it out most weekends, or collect it every few weeks for a drive, the car is not sitting long enough for the extras in Care to matter much. You are paying for a secure place to keep it, and for a team that knows it is there.

Care — R3,000 a month

Care is the tier most owners choose. It adds three things to Standard:

  • Bi-monthly startups
  • One wash a month
  • 5% off our services

The bi-monthly startups are the reason. A modern performance car draws current even when it is switched off: the alarm, keyless entry, and control units that wake up to check on themselves. Left alone for a month or two, many will not start. A trickle charger can be fitted on any tier, at the owner’s cost.

Care suits a car that sits for months at a time. Owners who travel, a second or third car that comes out a few times a year, a car being kept through a South African winter. The R500 difference over Standard buys the startups, a monthly wash, and 5% off our services.

Elite — R8,500 a month

Elite includes everything in Care, and adds:

  • 10% off our services
  • Annual delivery to your door
  • Market reports on your vehicle

Choose Elite for what it adds, not for the discount alone. The market reports matter to an owner who thinks about the car as an asset as well as a car. Annual delivery means the car comes to you once a year, rather than you coming to it.

It suits a car whose value the owner follows closely, and an owner who uses our detailing and service coordination regularly.

Collector — by arrangement

For more than one car. Collector brings multiple dedicated bays, fleet rates, and coordinated transport and servicing. It is priced by arrangement, because two cars and twelve cars are different conversations.

What does not change between tiers

The terms are the same at every level. Month-to-month, 30 days’ notice, no exit fees. Longer terms are available if you want them, not required.

Delivery across Pretoria and Johannesburg is available by arrangement. Visits are by arrangement, because the facility is not open to walk-ins. That is part of why the cars inside are safe.

A simple way to decide

Ask how long the car will sit between drives.

  • A few weeks at most: Standard.
  • A month or more: Care.
  • Months, and you follow what it is worth: Elite.
  • More than one car: Collector.

If you are not sure, start with Care. It is the tier we would choose for most cars that are not driven every week.

The full detail is on The Vault page. When you are ready, reserve a bay: tell us the car and when you would like to bring it in, and we reply the same working day.

If you would like a view on your own car — what it is worth and what to watch for — we will put one together.
